It really isn't much fun to be cursed with sensitive skin. Believe me, because I know firsthand...so to speak. Sensitive skin presents all kinds of problems. For example, I can't wash my hands with the soap provided in public restrooms. I'm allergic, so I have to carry a small bar of special soap with me whenever I know that I might have to use a public restroom. I can't just reach out and touch the world without first reading the list of ingredients. Like I said, it really isn't much fun.
The good news, however, is that there are now plenty of products out there for those of us with sensitive skin. We can buy laundry soap that doesn't have perfume in it now. That's a big help because we used to have to rinse clothes several times to be sure there was no perfume from the detergent left in them.
There are personal care products that are made especially for sensitive skin now, too. We search labels for words like nonallergenic and fragrance free. Granted, most of these products cost much more than products that are not fragrance free and that are not nonallergenic, but the price difference is worth it if they will prevent the skin irritations, rashes, itching, etc. that are the plagues of those with sensitive skin.
Women can now buy makeup that is nonallergenic and that is fragrance free. Men can buy shaving products that are made especially for sensitive skin. Deodorants are available, as are shampoos. It has gotten to be a kinder and gentler world for those of us who have sensitive skin and we really do appreciate everything that has been done. It isn't enough...but it's a start.
