Image : http://www.flickr.com

Melasma is a common skin problem. It is characterized by dark and irregular spots on nose, cheeks and forehead. The causes of this problem are excessive sun exposure, oral contraceptives & genetic disorder. It might appear to be a big problem but it can be resolved with some simple measures. Most often people try the melasma creams to get rid of this problem. Are these really beneficial? Let us review these products.

Melasma Creams

This is really an effective cure to the issue. But you must be able to select the right brand for yourself. One simple way to do so is to contact a dermatologist. Besides, while making the choice the most important thing is to check the ingredients of the cream. Given below are some of the key ingredients used in them:

* Hydroquinone - This is an FDA approved bleaching agent known to cure hyper pigmentation. But it must not be present in a quantity more than 2%.

* Kojic Acid - It is another common component of the melasma creams.

* Arbutin - This is very helpful in healthy skin whitening.

* Liquorice Extract - Ascorbic acid that is found in citrus fruits. The best way to get rid of skin discoloration is to reduce the production of melanin. So, you must always try to get such products. Rumex occindentalis extract is a plant extract that helps in inhibiting melanin. The other ways of adding the glow and radiance to your face are as follows:

* Cosmetic Treatment: This must be done with special care and after the consultation of some experienced professional. It covers all your dark spots.

* Protection from Sun: Apply a good sun blocking cream or lotion before going out. If possible avoid moving out in sun.

* Proper Diet: A balanced diet also helps in treating various skin issues that further helps in adding glow to your face. Drinking lots of water helps you get rid of the impurities and toxins from your body that gives you a clear skin.

Meladerm is another natural measure to whiten your face. It is a herbal cream that reduces the appearance of age spots, hyper pigmentation and various other skin disorders and leaves your face free from such issues.

The Upsides and Downsides of Beauty and Skin Care Products

The beauty and skin care products industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. Unfortunately, many of the products can range from lotion, make-up, anti-wrinkle and anti-aging products. In our quest for eternally youthful skin and for beauty, most people will do or try almost anything. Magazines, television ads, movie stars and models promote their own concept of beauty - after all isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder?

As with most things there are two sides: the upside and the downsides. This is no less true for beauty and skin care products. They are packaged in fancy bottles and jars as well as other packaging to draw us in.

Let's talk about the good sides of these products.

These products can help to improve your appearance and make you feel more confident.
Some women who use cosmetics sometimes feel more beautiful and younger looking while using them. Many of these products can reduce lines and wrinkles. They may also relieve or prevent acne flare-ups.

The most beneficial ingredients would be those that assisted your body in producing new collagen and elastin to keep your skin smoother and healthier. Your skin is the largest body organ. The exposed parts such as your face, neck, arms and legs are most vulnerable to wrinkles, lines, and acne. This is why it is so important to take good care of your skin.

Collagen is a fibrous protein with tensile strength. It helps to keep your skin nice and firm. Elastin on the other hand is another protein that provides skin with flexibility and firmness. It helps to bring your skin back to its normal place if it is stretched.

CoQ10 or coenzyme Q10 is a very strong antioxidant that protects your body from free radicals that have an unpaired electron. These can cause damage to other cells including skin cells. As you age, this antioxidant decreases giving way to wrinkles, lines, and other signs of aging. There are a number of forms of CoQ10 but not every one of them can be used on the skin topically. The one form that is usable by the skin is called Nano-lipobelle H-EQ10.

Nano-lipobelle H-EQ10 is a nano-emulsion form and can deeply penetrate the skin up to 7 layers deep. This means it provides better benefits for your skin and its health. It is very effective in destroying the free radicals that can cause so much damage to your skin. It can also help your body to create collagen and elastin. Collagen, CoQ10, and Nano-lipobelle EQ10 are among the most powerful anti-aging beauty and skin care available.

Phytessence Wakame is a unique kelp from the Japanese Sea. It helps the collagen and elastin fibers to stick together. It helps to breakdown a harmful enzyme called hyaluronidase that breaks down hyaluronic acid in your skin. Hyaluronan is also very beneficial in tissue repair.

Cynergy TK is a substance that stimulates your body to re-grow your own collagen. This improves the firmness and flexibility of your skin. Studies have shown a ongoing improvement of skin moisture of 14% in a period of over 15 days with this new new wonder substance.

The downside of skin and beauty products are that they have ingredients that are not only ineffective but also damage your skin. These are parabens, alcohols, mineral oil, dioxane, and fragrances. Some of these ingredients can be carcinogenic, which can clog pores and irritating the skin causing dryness and possible dependence on the lotion. They can also interrupt your body's ability to get rid of toxins causing acne flare-ups and chapping.

The products may not be well researched in the rush to get it marketed and available to consumers. Some may look really good while it is on your skin but not so good once it is removed.

Other products may not meet their claims and include only minuscule amounts of things such as collagen just so it can be put on the label leaving you to think you are getting a good product.

In order to get the best product possible, they must contain high concentrations of the best ingredients such as collagen and CoQ10. Researching the products online may help you to choose the best product for your needs. If necessary, consulting your doctor can also be very beneficial.

Acne Peel - Everything You Need to Know!

Acne peel treatments have been around for a while now so there has been plenty of research and many people have an experience to share using these procedures to help with acne. I'm not going to look into the causes of acne or the range of possible treatments in this article because if I tried to do that I'd end up writing a 300 page book! I will, however, consider whether an acne peel is a treatment worth considering when trying to overcome problems with acne and oily skin.

What does the treatment involve?

Any type of facial peel is a topical treatment applied directly to the skin over the area to be treated. Gentle acids cause the skin to peel. Depending on the strength of the peel, there might be a mild stinging sensation which causes a light redness to the skin. The number of layers of the skin which peel away ranges depending on the peel's strength. Usually it will be 2-4 layers of the upper dermis (top levels of the skin).

Once these layers of skin have peeled, a new layer will replace them which will either be free of the acne covering the previous skin or have drastically improved it. The skin will look fresher, brighter and more healthy.

What are the advantages of an acne peel?

A thorough cleaning of your pores which effectively removes and prevents blackheads from forming
The treatment will aid your skin in regulating sebum levels thereby reducing the amount of oil on the skin
Pores are tightened and their size is reduced
Noticeable improvement in the appearance of acne scars
Brighter and healthier looking skin

Which is the right chemical peel for me?

This depends on a number of factors such as your skin type, time available for recovery and budget. For a much more comprehensive analysis and more detailed information I suggest looking at a specialist acid peel site. As a general guide, phenol based peels are the strongest and will usually produce the best results. Although they are usually more expensive than TCA or Alpha-Hydroxy peels in the long run they probably work out cheaper because less applications are need for the desired effect.

What potential side effects should I be aware of

Although generally safe, as with any medical treatment, some people do report side effects with the most common being:

Increased sensitivity to the sun
Reddening of the face
Changes in skin pigmentation

An acne peel is a very safe treatment and permanent side effects are very rare. In fact, they are so safe that these days they can be done in the comfort of your own home. This saves the expense of having to pay a doctor or dermatologist to do this for you.

I would especially recommend a facial peel if you've struggled to find any over the counter or prescription products that have worked for you. Thankfully my acne has calmed down now I'm older but I still use chemical peels in my fight against my new skin problem...wrinkles!

The Best Natural Skin Care Cream

The best natural skin care cream is one that contains, plant oils, proteins and vitamins necessary for the skin's health. You won't find the best skin creams in department stores or advertised on television. You'll have to do a little searching to find anything that contains all of these compounds, but it is well worth the effort.

The best natural skin care cream should help slow the signs of aging and conquer dryness, without feeling overly oily or greasy. The skin's layers are composed of chains of amino acid proteins. The body needs protein for many things, and rebuilding skin-cells and fibers is one of them.

Research has shown that if a protein is similar enough to that which is normally found in the skin, it will be used to build new cells. Many products contain keratin, one of those amino acid proteins. But, the best skin creams contain a new compound called Functional Keratin. It was created through a patented process that allows it to be readily used to build more cells. It may be the best natural skin care cream ever made. The functional ingredient was derived from the wool of Australian sheep, so it won't be found on a supermarket shelf, but you can order it through the internet.

Researchers were amazed when they saw the effect that COQ10 had on the skin's cells. The coenzyme is an antioxidant found all over the human body. But, until recently, we were unaware that the skin's stores are depleted when exposed to the sun.

The best skin creams contain a variety of the antioxidant that can penetrate through many of the skin's layers, replacing that which is lost due to the sun and repairing earlier damage done by the sun. When it comes to the beauty of our faces, sunshine may be our worst enemy, but the use of sun-screens is becoming more and more controversial. The best natural skin care cream also contains vitamin B-5 which helps repair skin tissue and acts as a moisturizer. But, it also provides protection from sun burn. It relieves existing sunburns and enhances tanning. A light tan protects the deepest of the skin's layers from harmful UV radiation.

Sun screen lotions only provide protection from sunburns and do not protect the lower layers from UV damage. In fact some of the UV rays penetrate more deeply when the screens are used. The safest and best skin creams do not contain a screening element or an SPF rating.

Hyaluronic acid is another of the amino acid proteins needed to create skin-fibers. But, so far, scientists have not found a naturally occurring protein that is compatible. They have however found a type of kelp that can be used to decrease the break down of the protein.

It is called wakame and it is only found in the best natural skin care cream. An extract of the kelp inhibits an enzymatic process that destroys the protein. So, research has shown that with continued use, the levels of the protein naturally rise. So, look for wakame, if you really want the best.

Dry Skin - Facts You Should Know About Dry Skin

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The causes of dry skin are not limited just to winter when the temperatures are cold and winds are howling. Dry skin can also result from too hot a bath, harsh cleansers, or even air travel. You can use the following facts to avoid or at least minimize that annoying itchy, dry skin.

Moisturizers help in reducing water loss from the epidermis preventing further dryness with a soothing barrier against soot and dirt. This will offer a temporary feeling of smoothness because your pores will seem smaller.

Hot baths - not for you: In the winter months, long hot baths can exacerbate dry skin. Try short luke warm baths instead or even lukewarm showers. When you are out of the shower, moisturize right away after patting dry your skin gently.

Moisturize: Several important functions are associated with a moisturizer. It replaces lost water and water binding ingredients help keep it in the skin. Products that cleanse and moisturize can save you an extra step. Remain hydrated throughout the day by drinking lots of water.

Lips: Licking your dry lips won't provide relief. Instead, it will make your lips drier and chapped. Apply a moisturizing lip balm or gloss to keep your lips soft and smooth, particularly before bed.

Cleansing care: Mild cleansers will help prevent dry, itchy skin during cold, harsh, dry winter. During the summer, we are often working inside with air conditioning allowing for cooling comfort. The downside of this is humidity is removed from the air which has a tendency to dry out our skin.

Airplane: The humidity on long flights can drop to a low of 1% and a 3 hour flight can sap all the moisture from your skin and hair. This is the reason why you might find your skin and hair feeling tight or dry when you get off an airplane. Hydrate yourself during the flight, but limit your intake of coffee and alcohol because they can be counterproductive. Your moisturizer in hand luggage will be of great help because you can use them on mid-flight and before you disembark, splash your face with water and follow up with moisturizer.

Keep the moisture sealed in: If you want your skin to be soft and smooth, apply lotion or body oil when drying off after a bath or shower, making sure that your skin is still damp. This will help to seal the moisture in and leave your skin feeling great.

Soothe your skin: When you have dry or sensitive skin, eczema or other skin disorders, it can lead to itchy skin. Adding oatmeal to your bathwater is a traditional way to sooth the itch. For the less extreme options, skin care with moisturizers developed to retain moisture and fluids works best. Hyaluronic Acid is used with many creams and lotions to help cell membranes maintain moisture content. It has become a key ingredient in dry skin products. Combined with firming agents, you get the best of both worlds, firmer and softer skin.

Skincare 101: My Journey With Acne

This video will go through all the different products I tried in order to get rid of my acne. I think that it's always helpful to know what didn't work as well as what did, so that you can make an informed decision. Different active ingredients work (or don't work) for different people, it's just all about finding what is right for your needs. A NOTE ON ANTIBIOTICS: According to my dermatologist, you cannot develop a resistance to topical antibiotics (applied to the skin), however, you can develop a resistance to oral antibiotics (taken internally). Most dermatologists prescribe oral antibiotics as a low-dose, short-term course of treatment to reduce the likelihood of antibiotic resistance and system-wide organ damage. For the treatment of acne, oral antibiotics are effective to kill the P. acnes bacteria as well as reduce inflammation. You should discuss any concerns regarding oral and/or topical antibiotics with your health-care practitioner. I will be doing a video on my updated skincare routine as well, so stay tuned for that video!

How To Treat Dry Skin

Image : http://www.flickr.com

A very high proportion of the world population deals with dry skin on a daily basis. The itchy, flaky patches are not only irritating, but they are the forerunners to a myriad of lines and wrinkles in later life that we would all much rather avoid. What causes dry skin?

This is actually a more complicated question that it might seem, but in simple terms, there are many factors that influence dry skin. Pollution, extreme temperatures, a dry atmosphere, harsh soaps and lack of moisturiser are the main causes of dry skin in most people, so to alleviate the disorder it is necessary to confront these leading causes and do what you can to fix them.

There is very little you can do about the pollution in the air (short of forming a lobby group and picketing) but you do need to be sure to wash the grime off your skin as soon as you can.

If you live in a city, it may be necessary to wash your unprotected skin (face and hands) several times a day to get rid of the clinging irritants. These compounds have a tendency to block pores, stop skin respiration and kill skin cells, causing the dry patches you know so well.

Keeping exfoliated and clean is the first step towards a supple, smooth face.

Another important factor in the dry skin saga is soap. What kind of soap do you use? Is it scented, antibacterial, PH neutral? Most people use a harsher soap on their skin than they should be. By using a harsh soap, you are stripping away the natural oils on your skin and helping to cause dry patches.

Your skin needs its natural protective layer if it has any hope of staying moisturised and healthy, so go out and try to find yourself a softer soap, one that is PH balanced and will clean away bacteria without taking all the good oils with it! The last thing you want is for your soap to work against you.

After exfoliation and cleansing, you will need to make use of a high quality, thick, creamy moisturiser to lock in the existing moisture of your skin and add to the top layer. Moisturisers work by hydrating your outer skin layers with water, so they become more expanded and smooth.

Without water, your skin cells die off and flake away, so remember that moisturiser is essential to beating that dry skin! There are an awful lot of moisturisers to choose from, so choose carefully. As a generally rule, you will want to use a rich and creamy lotion that leaves your skin feeling supple without a residue of water or oil left behind. A good quality lotion will soak into skin quickly and leave only a smooth patch of skin behind it.

If you keep these factors in mind while dealing with your dry skin, you are sure to beat the odds and keep your skin looking youth and healthy. Just remember, skin care is about keeping your skin cells alive and in top working order. The key to keeping cells alive is simple: water.

While water retention is possible, a cell can be hydrated and brought back to life with good hygiene, careful planning and a high quality moisturizer. If you want to prolong the youthful glow of your skin, get rid of those pesky dry patches and get on with your life while feeling attractive, then remember these simple tips and apply them daily. Get rid of dry skin for good! Cleanse, use PH balanced soap and moisturise.

Uncover the Secrets to the Best Anti Wrinkle Skin Cream

As the population ages, the demand for high quality anti wrinkle skin cream products continues to rise. With thousands of products on the market, how on earth can you find one that works effectively.

If you go to your local department store, you will see shelves upon shelves of anti wrinkle skin cream products. Most of them are ineffective.

Why are they ineffective? The reason they do not work is that they do not contain the right ingredients. Most skin creams contain many filler ingredients that offer no value to the product. It is cheaper to make a product this way.

So, how do you as a consumer make an informed decision when it comes to your anti aging products?

Finding a cream that will work is easy if you know what to look for and what to avoid. Many ingredients used in skincare lotions contain ingredients that are potentially harmful to your health.

One of the worst ingredients is Dioxane. This substance is banned in some countries. It is a known carcinogen. However, it is still found in some anti aging creams.

Another ingredient that you should avoid is mineral oil or paraffin. This substance is often added to skincare products as a filler because it is cheap to manufacture.

The problem with it is that it can clog your pores, which in turn leads to acne breakouts. In addition, it can dry out your skin after prolonged use.

Fragrances are another ingredient that can cause skin problems. Skin irritations and allergic reactions can result from certain fragrances. A good anti wrinkle skin cream does not need a fragrance anyway.

These are just some of the ingredients that you should avoid, when searching for an effective anti wrinkle skin cream. A good lotion can make a world of difference in the overall look and feel of your skin.

Natural Topical Creams For Dry Skin - How it Works

Image : http://www.flickr.com

A natural topical cream for dry skin really concentrates and works against the dryness experienced by our very own fur. It is the common problem faced by people during winter season. This is a major issue faced by people, especially those in cold countries such as Canada, U.K etc. where there is snow fall for a prolonged period of time. It is a must to people in such cold countries to use creams for getting rid of dry and scaly skin. There are many creams available online which are delivered at your door step.

How it works? This is the question asked by many. One can find difference in their skin as it becomes soft and the dryness is reduced by using it. It prevents the skin from being scaly, gives moisture and thus makes the skin healthy and soft. You can experience and understand this when the skin becomes soft from the rough, scaly and dry texture.

Creams are a major necessity for a softer and smoother outer coat especially during the cold months when nothing else helps. If the skin is left untreated, it leads to many problems. Sometimes dryness of the skin is increased, cracks are formed and it starts bleeding. Once the skin starts bleeding, it sometimes becomes fatal. One faces an unbearable pain during bleeding. Thus, you should be very careful and follow all the safety measure to use the best cream available online to rejuvenate, refresh and bring out the real life.

Natural tropical creams for dry skin contain several ingredients such as mineral oils and dioxin, which is a derivative of coconut. As we know coconut milk is very good for skin and a natural product very close to nature. You can get rid of dry skin by using this and you will surely find the difference from the very first day itself. The only chemical that is added is to give fragrance, which does not affect the skin, as it is present in very minor concentration. So, you can start your day by applying coconut milk all over your body to get rid of those scaly and cracked skin.

Dry Skin Itch Caused by Eczema

Image : http://www.flickr.com

What is Eczema?

Eczema is a skin condition that caused our skin to become inflamed, resulting in rashes and severe itching. In fact, instead of the rash causing the itching, eczema is referred to as the itch that causes the rash. What starts out as extremely dry skin can quickly develop into a rash.

Children are often victims of eczema although they often outgrow the condition whereas adults with eczema tend to have it most of their life. Unfortunately, there is no cure for eczema. Eczema is a combination of dry skin and allergies. It may result in dry skin, dry patches and occasional flare-ups where the skin becomes red with patches that seem to be almost oozing.

Although many people become embarrassed by their dry itchy skin, there is no reason to feel ashamed. It's not contagious and it's not something that you can prevent. You can, however, prevent repeated flare-ups or keep them to a minimum.

Ways to Prevent Dry Skin

Although you may not be able to totally eliminate the dry skin itching caused by eczema, there are steps you can take to reduce your chances of having dry skin. There are many things in life that we can't avoid but by eliminating the things you can, you'll be doing a lot towards reducing the dry skin itching.

Use plenty of moisturizer and this can't be overemphasized. Use a moisturizing lotion daily - several times a day, in fact.

Avoid using hot water when bathing or showering because hot water dries out your skin. Luke warm water will do just as well.

Do not rub your skin dry after a bath or shower. Pat your skin gently instead.

Avoid using plain soap. Use soap with moisturize in it and one without perfume.

Try to use cotton as much as possible for clothing as well as bedding. Avoid synthetic or wool fabrics, which tend to irritate the skin more.

Avoid using scented lotions or bubble bath.

Use a mild detergent without dye or harsh chemicals. Remember your clothing spends many hours a day rubbing against your skin.

Watch for foods that may be causing allergies and avoid them. Allergies play an important part in not only causing eczema but also in triggering itching attacks.

Avoid allergens like mold, dust, pet dander as these also can trigger attacks.

Forehead Lines - Choosing the Right Product

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Wrinkles, the very first sign of aging, can be great cause for worry. With the world becoming more looks oriented; you cannot hide them under the makeup for a very long time. Don't let forehead lines become your worry lines. Aging is not something that is going to stop; however, the good news is you can take some steps to make sure that forehead lines don't show on your face.

When we are young, our skin is smooth and free from any blemishes. As age catches up, our skin develops dark spots, scars and wrinkles. You can easily reduce or slow down the appearance of these signs of aging by having a balanced diet coupled with good skin care products.

With our routine becoming hectic by the day most of us do not get enough time to take care of our skin. But neglecting your skin can actually make you look older than you are. In this regard a good skin care product comes in very handy. A good product can actually hold back forehead lines for years to come. It's best to invest some amount of money in getting a good product rather than compromising on your appearance.

The first thing to look for in a skin care product is whether it is meant for your skin. This can be checked on the pack where it is usually mentioned as for oily, dry or normal skin. You must obviously know your skin type before you use any of these products. It's best to consult your beautician or dermatologist to know your skin type.

The next thing you must check is the ingredients mentioned. For instance, anti-aging products may have different contents compared to products for reducing acne. Similarly, not all anti-aging products are meant for the same purpose. A product for reducing wrinkles such as forehead lines would be different than those for reducing age spots. Therefore, you must carefully check these before you spend all that money on a product.

In case you don't get much time to make different facial packs at home, using products for skin care is a much better option. Taking these steps would definitely help you find the right product for a younger looking skin.
